UniQBrows flagship store opens up in Sandton City

Founder of the UniQBrows franchise, Unaiza Suliman, has opened her latest store, in the Sandton City Shopping Mall.

At a launch held on 4 November, Suliman, who is known as ‘SA’s Brow Queen’, explained that while the new store remains her own, the UniQBrows franchise is available in two different options.

The first is a traditional franchise and the second, the UniQBrows Brow & Lash Express, is a micro-franchise option where a business owner can set up a chair in their salon, manned by a technician specially trained by Suliman. UniQBrows Brow & Lash Express stations are about to roll out in Candi&Co in-store salons within three Foschini branches – Sandton City, Fourways and Mall of Africa.

Suliman’s brow journey began with a simple brow kiosk in 2011. There are now seven stores in the UniQBrows franchise.

Commenting on her flagship Sandton City branch, where she herself performs microbladning treatments, Suliman reveals that the store was meant to open in June but had to postpone because of the COVID-19 national lockdown.

There are five treatment rooms – one is for microblading treatments, another for IV drip injections (under the auspices of Dr Nadine Cajee and a resident nurse), and a laser hair removal room (complete with an Alma Lasers machine), as well as two lash extension rooms for treatments (using 3D art volume lashes imported from the USA). Threading, lash lifts, tinting, henna tints, sugaring for the upper lip and brow lamination treatments take place at stations at the front of the store.

All UniQBrows staff members have gone through Suliman’s own skills development programme and had no prior experience in brow or lash treatments. They have all undergone CIDESCO Occupational & Safety Training Courses.

Last year, Suliman launched her UniQBrows Growth Serum, with biomimetic peptides. During lockdown she created a cosmetics line called UniQ by Unaiza.

A pilot project at the Sandton Store is a Beauty Bar where Sephora brands, such as Fenty, Kylie Cosmetics, KKW Beauty and Korean skincare brands, for example, are available.
